If you are not using insurance and are self-pay, each session is $180. Sliding-scale rate options may be available upon request.

Psychological Evaluation Services:

Private Pay only

Each Session

What's included:

Psychological evaluation services are private pay only and no insurance is taken. However, a superbill can be provided for submission to insurance companies as needed.

Why is insurance not accepted?

Most insurance companies will not reimburse for academic testing. You have the option to pursue academic testing through your child’s school or to pay an out-of- pocket expense for the administration, scoring, and interpretation of any academic measures. Rates for out-of-pocket testing fees are provided via the ‘Evaluation Services’ page and are due at the time of the testing appointment.

Please remember to cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours. The standard meeting time for a diagnostic evaluation is between 4 and 8 hours and it may be beneficial to spread this out over multiple days depending on the age and tolerance of the individual being assessed. Cancellations and re-scheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if NOT RECEIVED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are more than 45 minutes late, we will need to reschedule the appointment. A $10.00 service charge will be charged for any checks returned for any reason for special handling. If you would like to pay via credit card there is a 4% upcharge of total amount. Psychological testing fees are outlined on the 'Evaluation Service Fees' page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both psychologists and psychiatrists are trained mental health professionals. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can use a mix of therapy and medication to treat mental health conditions. Psychologists focus on psychological evaluations and/or providing therapeutic care.
The primary difference between a psychologist and counselor is the form of training they have undergone. Psychologists have a doctorate and have more years of training in the theory and practice of psychology. Their training assists them in treating various mental illnesses and allows them to conduct psychological testing. Counselors also treat mental illness, but they may work with life stressors on a short-term basis. The term “therapist” is often used to describe any clinician who treats mental health concerns, including Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

The process includes an initial interview, the day(s) of the evaluation, a time-period for your provider to score, interpret, integrate all testing data into a thoroughly written report, and develop specific recommendations.

Each evaluation is tailored to the individual, so it is not possible to say for certain. However, testing can take up to 3 or more hours, depending on what is being assessed. Your provider will work with you to decide if one or more testing days are needed.

All session content and relevant materials to your treatment will be kept private and not shared with anyone without explicit consent. If requested in writing, all or portions of such content will be released to a specifically named person/persons. All information gathered will remain secure unless failure to disclose shared information would result in the client or another person to be at substantial risk or if the secure information is requested via court order.
Currently, all therapy services are held virtually. If in-person evaluation services are required, your provider will discuss that with you during the initial interview.
